inspiring girls to be active in stem

MakerGirl brings 3D printing to life! During each MakerGirl session, girls learn how to design and print their very own 3D object. Our program is intended for girls ages 7-10 years and is led by university students.

Our story

IMG_2610.jpg

MakerGirl started in a social entrepreneurship class at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign when our co-founders Julia Haried and Elizabeth Engele were inspired by the question "What bothers you?".

Motivated by their past experiences, MakerGirl was created to inspire young girls to pursue STEM fields through 3D printing sessions.

Since then, MakerGirl has conducted over 300 sessions in 22 different states across the U.S. and has educated more than 3,800 girls.

Every summer, we plan our #MakerGirlGoesMobile road trip, where conduct free sessions in underserved rural areas and marginalized communities throughout the United States.

MakerGirl is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entirely dependent on individual donors, corporate sponsors, and volunteers. Without the generosity our partners, MakerGirl could not exist.

Every donation gets us closer to our goal of educating 10,000 girls by 2023. Join us in ending the gender gap in STEM.
